Facilities
People are at the heart of our achievements. Indeed, it is
the exceptional knowledge and experience of our research staff that
underpins our ongoing R&D programmes. More than 200
experienced researchers are employed in our R & D facilities.
The combined experience of the R&D staff represents over
900 years in the field of medical diagnostics.
Most of our research and development activities are currently
carried out in our facilities in Jena (Clondiag) Germany; Stirling
(Stirling Medical Innovations) UK; San Diego (Biosite) and Hayward
(Cholestech), California; Scarborough (Binax), Maine; Bedford, UK;
Cambridge (Cambridge Medical Innovations) UK; Brisbane,
Australia and Orgenics, Israel. Clondiag in Jena Germany is
focused on developing novel point of care testing platforms, while
Stirling Medical Innovations and Biosite (San Diego) are major
R&D facilities focused on the development of new
professional diagnostic tests and monitoring devices primarily
related to cardiovascular disease.
To develop and manufacture our range of medical diagnostic
products requires a broad knowledge base. That is why our expertise
covers so many fields, from immunochemistry to biochemistry,
synthetic chemistry to electrochemistry, microbiology to mechanical
and electronic engineering, statistics to endocrinology. The
level and scope of the skills represented in our R&D group are
a significant factor of our continued success.
The Inverness Medical innovations research and development team
possesses an expertise that stands at the forefront of rapid assay
technology, and has created numerous patents that have become
benchmarks across the entire diagnostics industry. This has helped
us to build a reputation for answering complex scientific questions
with solutions that are effective and user-friendly. With our
state-of-the art research & development laboratories we
continue to anticipate consumer and clinical needs. By doing so, we
expect to develop exciting and innovative products over the coming
years and beyond.
